Catered By The Main Course

Overview

Nestled in the heart of College Park, Georgia, at 3569 Main St, the inviting aroma from Catered By The Main Course draws you in before you even step through the door. It’s the kind of place where locals gather, travelers make repeat stops, and every meal feels like a celebration of Southern comfort and culinary craftsmanship. From the first bite, it’s clear this diner-style gem knows how to balance flavor, hospitality, and authenticity in a way that few others manage.

Walking in, you’re greeted by a cozy, down-to-earth atmosphere that feels like home. The staff radiates warmth-always ready with a smile and quick to share menu recommendations based on your tastes. During my last visit, I was instantly captivated by the display of freshly prepared dishes behind the counter. The menu isn’t overwhelming, but every item is crafted with care, offering familiar Southern staples with a gourmet twist. Think tender smoked ribs, creamy mac and cheese, collard greens seasoned to perfection, and peach cobbler that could easily win a state fair ribbon.

The dining experience here goes beyond just good food-it’s about connection. The owner, a College Park native with over two decades in the culinary industry, has built a loyal following by focusing on flavor, freshness, and community. According to a recent local feature in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the restaurant sources much of its produce and meat from nearby farms, ensuring quality and supporting local businesses. This not only enhances the flavor profile of their dishes but also reflects a sustainable dining philosophy that’s rare in small-town eateries.

During one memorable catered event-a family reunion I attended last summer-the kitchen team showcased their expertise with a buffet spread that impressed even the pickiest eaters. Everything arrived on time, beautifully arranged, and piping hot. Guests raved about the Southern fried chicken and herb-roasted salmon, while the cornbread disappeared faster than expected. It’s easy to see why so many local organizations and private clients rely on their catering services for weddings, corporate lunches, and special occasions. The consistency and attention to detail speak volumes about their professionalism and pride in their craft.

Reviews across Google and Yelp echo similar sentiments. Diners consistently mention the generous portions, attentive service, and the feeling that every meal is made with heart. A 2024 customer review summed it up perfectly: “You can taste the love in every bite.” And it’s true-every dish here feels handcrafted, not mass-produced. Even the sides, often overlooked in most places, are treated with as much respect as the main entrées.

For food enthusiasts or anyone exploring College Park, this restaurant is more than just a stop-it’s an experience. The blend of homestyle cooking and fine-dining techniques makes it stand out among Georgia’s thriving culinary scene. According to the National Restaurant Association, diners like this-those combining tradition with innovation-are reshaping the way communities experience local dining. That’s exactly what makes this establishment so special. It honors the past while continually improving and adapting to modern tastes.

The location itself adds to its charm. Set on the lively Main Street, the area exudes a small-town vibe with big-city energy. Whether you’re dropping by for lunch, brunch, or dinner, you’ll find families, friends, and solo diners all enjoying hearty meals and easy conversation. And if you’re short on time, their takeout service delivers the same quality you’d expect dining in.

Food safety and freshness remain top priorities here. The kitchen maintains high cleanliness standards, and ingredients are prepared daily. From a trust perspective, that’s invaluable in today’s dining world. Transparency about sourcing and preparation reassures customers that they’re not just eating well-they’re eating right.

If you’ve ever wondered what makes a restaurant truly memorable, it’s not only the taste but the feeling it leaves you with. Catered By The Main Course manages to combine both flawlessly. From mouthwatering Southern classics to impeccable customer care, every detail reflects dedication, experience, and genuine hospitality. Anyone looking for authentic flavor, warm service, and a welcoming atmosphere will find all that and more at this College Park treasure, where good food and good people come together beautifully every single time.

I stumbled unto this gem thanks to Yelp. It was a long day and I was ready to eat and wanted to visit a place that didn’t’ have a 1 hour wait. The Main Course is on Main Street and has a parking lot and a very large interior space. On Sunday they had a Dj and are serving a southern brunch for $25.99. There is something on the menu for everyone. There is a salad bar, pastries, chicken, waffles, pancakes, fried green tomatoes, fish, grits, etc. ; it is a true southern breakfast! I enjoyed everything I had, and appreciated the bloody Mary bar, I enjoyed one cocktail for $7. I was dining solo and sat at the bar and had the opportunity to chat with the owner, such a sweet lady that has a special way of making you feel like family. There was no wait when I walked in but it was fairly busy, people outside and in the back room enjoying their meal, the traffic remained steady while I was there. I would like to return during the weekday so I can enjoy the main menu and also return for brunch to try the salmon croquettes. Two items that did not make this a 5 star experience for me, some of the food in the warming dishes was cold and it was difficult for me to use the plastic ware to cut my waffles and pancakes. Not a deal breaker but something to note. If you enjoy soul food, great service and want to support a woman and minority owned business  check out the Main Course today.

Great service, tasty and plenty of food options on the buffet. $25 per person is a fair price for southern dishes , breakfast, desserts, fruits, etc. and the omelets were yummy. . We were First timers but will go back. The customer service is very friendly, & attentive. The DJ played a nice variety of r&b, (old and new school), even a sprinkle of high energy gospel. I loved that the music wasn’t too loud, like other restaurants on this street. The outdoor patio is quiet & peaceful, can’t hear the DJ’s music.

Today, the ladies and I had a lovely Brunch at The Main Course on Main Street in College Park. The food was delicious. The music was great and the service was excellent! Our party of 8 really enjoyed ourselves and they have decent parking! We must support our local businesses!

Nice atmosphere, very friendly staff and owner. The owner came out to my car to introduce herself as I was leaving. I got the two piece dark with macaroni and greens. The chicken was crispy hot and seasoned to perfection. The sides were sinful. Definitely recommend. I will be returning!!!

Food is delicious - fried chicken is the best I’ve ever had and the fried shrimp is legit. The sides (cabbage and greens) could have used some seasoning and a bottle of pepper vinegar on the tables would have made the greens slap. The soul food rolls were a little inconsistent (we got two and one just had greens in it) and I probably wouldn’t order them again. A little butter served w the cornbread muffin would have been great. They serve alcohol now and have a nice little Bloody Mary bar on brunch days that we enjoyed. Overall we are very happy to have this place and hope it does well. The service is incredible and the staff is so friendly .

We are super excited to have the Main Course opened in College Park. We dined on opening day for birthday breakfast fish and grits for us was delicious . The restaurant food, excellent service, decor and music was a wonderful start to our morning. We have returned several times bringing friends to enjoy the new downtown dining spot with indoor and outdoor seating. Soul food on Main Street with my favorite meal fried chicken, collard greens, macaroni/cheese and corn bread
